Introducing the Team Part 2

You have already met my dear friend Olof and now it is time for me, Fredrik, to introduce myself. I’m a 26 year old guy from the student city of Lund in the southern part of Sweden. I am currently a student at the university about to finish my bachelor in Computer Science. The idea for Airport CEO came to me about 2 years ago when I decided to revisit some older tycoon games. I got hold of a copy of an older airport tycoon game (no names mentioned) and played it again. I did my best to try to enjoy it this time, but again it proved very disappointed and I quickly uninstalled it. So the idea of making my own airport tycoon game slowly came to me and a year later I started working on a Java based mock-up, however, I quickly realized that in order to really make it good, I would have to go bigger and scale it up. So the project was put on hold and it wasn’t until this summer that again revisited the idea and decided to go with a more powerful game engine. We decided to go with Unity because of its extensive community support, asset store and the programming language being C#. The engine is also royalty-free and there is a free version for low income developers.

Implementation wise, I’ve been coding the aircraft behavior, building system and much more. Airport CEO has really put my skills to the test and I’m really enjoying the challenge. The community responses so far has been great which is a huge motivation booster. There seems to be a lot of people longing for a game like this which I believe puts a dose of healthy pressure on us making it right. Therefore, we listen to what all of you guys say and try to summarize all the different ideas and suggestions that has been brought to the table. If something is good we will stick to it and if we get a negative response on a feature, we will change it. I realized I got a bit off topic, I was supposed to talk about myself, but as you can understand I’m so excited about Airport CEO that it’s so easy to slip into that topic. So back to me then, I like to play musical instruments, mostly piano and guitar, and I’m a hobby composer. I’m also fan of fine-dining and especially wine, I even have my own wine fridge in my small apartment.

At this point it’s mostly Olof and I, who does the main development, however, we are expected to expand the team in the next year. We also plan to get external help for things like making arts for the game. All the textures you’ve seen so far has been made by us and even though they are decent, they can definitely be improved. Even though we don’t have any open job position right now, you are more than welcome to send us an email if you feel like you can contribute.
