Game Announcement

We started announcing the development of Airport CEO in a few forums this week (reddit, Indie DB, Unity and others). And yes we are using Unity 5 as our game engine, we will tell you more on that later as well. We got great response from the community and there are many gamers that are longing for a game like this. This is of course a great inspirational boost for the entire team and it is nice to discuss different aspects of the game with the future player. We strive for an open and transparent development process with plenty of opportunities to for you, the future players, to impact the final game.

We also created a twitter account: @AirportCEO, where you can get the latest news and be notified on new posts.

Development News

Well, continue working on the things we discussed in the last post. There have been a few hiccups with the serialization which we are trying to solve. We are also updating some textures and working on the passenger lifecycle. Our broader goal development goal is preparation for the crowdfunding campaign as we strive to show off a somewhat functional game by then, or at least some critical parts of the game. So there is a lot of time being spent on making sure things work, as well as develop a scalable architecture in order to prepare for more content being added later on. This is really crucial.

Realism

We are trying to balance realism and gameplay in a delicate way. As aviation fans we want to try and implement as many realistics aspects of aviation and airport management as possible. This is a big challenge but we believe the payoff could be worth it. We are therefore doing a thorough research on airport operational, passenger and aircraft handling. Everything from what does a double-dotted taxiway line mean, to what kind of coffe an Airport CEO has. No, but seriously it is important that the game feels realistic, so we have to do our homework. On the other hand we don’t want to take it to far, I mean, it is not a simulator therefore gameplay will definitely be prioritized. We might even try to schedule an interview with a real Airport CEO if we can get the opportunity.
