Dev Blog 4: Time Slots and Serialization

Lifecycle and Serialization

As we mentioned in the previous devlog, we are spending our time on getting the complete aircraft and passenger lifecycle to work. We are slowly getting a system that works, the passenger can arrive by busses, proceed to check-in and security. The aircraft can find an empty gate and park. When it is time for boarding the passengers boards the aircraft and fly off to their destination. So the basics have been implemented and right now we are working on fine tuning the cycles. We have also started implementing a serialization system for saving and loading the game states. This is right now one of our top priorities for the simple reason that it is a must. We have setup a list of implementation goals for our first internal deadline (the 15th of November) , however, for your disappointment it will not be released to the public as we are still too early in the development process.

Runway landing slots

We have started implementing a sophisticated landing slot planner where you will be able to allocate your contracted flights, by drag and drop, to certain times of the day. This system will be an important tool in you CEO role as you will have to make executive decisions whether to schedule a flight in the morning rush-hour, daytime or evening. Airlines will have preferred landing slots which will have an impact on the landing fee and their overall satisfaction. This will of course be one of several management system that you will have to master in Airport CEO. Here’s a quick screen shot of the user interface, please not that the textures are highly experimental and not final.
