Dev Blog 26: Bathroom and Baggage Belts

June 11, 2016

Hey there, hope you’ve had a great week. The development of Airport CEO is steaming ahead and we’ve progressed as usual!

One thing that was missing from the pre-alpha gameplay trailer was the three different main zones that passengers can interact with: Bathroom, food (restaurants, cafés, etc.) and shops. The development of passenger activities and terminal simulation have always been executed chronologically meaning that the first activity we implemented was check-in, then security, then dummy simulations for the different zones in favor of boarding so that we could complete and test cycles. Now that we have them down we will start finishing off each zone in order to further deepen the behaviors of passengers and the terminal simulation. This week we implemented the bathroom zone which added three new objects (sink, toilets and urinals) and also support for building bathrooms for female, male or all genders.

If you don’t have any bathrooms, or if you build bathrooms without sinks, passengers might get irritated; just a heads up. Next week we’ll focus on implementing shops but this week has also had a lot of focus on, as always, bug squashing and improvements, a lot of planning for the upcoming development and in what order to implement the remaining features and so forth. We also laid down some effort on the base for the baggage belts, an important part of ACEO, which will include a number of different items for making sure that passenger’s checked-in luggage gets to right aircraft, in time.

That’s all for this week I think, now it’s back to development. Have a great weekend!
